Light Up Your Space With DIY Hanging Lamps
One of the simplest ways to (literally) brighten up your home and add style is by adding a unique light fixture. We love the look of hanging lamps, either gently draped onto hooks or displayed in a group. Not only is it a functional solution to bring light to unexpected corners (or places without natural light), but there are also a wide range of options to personalize hanging lights to your home’s own style….and it’s incredibly simple to create your own – no electrical experience necessary!
To make your own hanging lamp, you’ll need the following supplies: an electrical cord kit; light bulbs (we highly recommend using on-trend Edison bulbs) and a shade. When it comes to choosing a lamp shade for your DIY light, consider your room’s current style, space and lighting needs. A few lamp shades we’re loving right now are textured, bohemian styles, hammered metal domes, and clear glass globes. Once you’ve assembled your supplies, you’ll attach your shade and lightbulb to the cord kit, and you can hang your new, stylish lamp! Pro Tip: Try creating a cluster of hanging lamps with complementary shades and varying sizes to create an artistic and functional lighting display!
- Step 1: Gather a cord kit, lightbulb and unique lamp shade.
- Step 2: Attach your bulb and shade to the cord.
- Step 3: Choose a spot to hang your new lamp (think dark corners or over an arm chair).
- Step 4: Hang your new lamp and enjoy!
