Separation: Establishing an entryway
Creating an entryway isn’t as difficult as you think! Try adding a simple accent piece to the wall near the door or making use of an oversized area rug. You can also help to define the space by using a couch or bookshelf as a faux-wall. This will create the illusion of a hallway, without the expense of building.
Storage: Creating space
Need space for shoes while hiding the mess? Opt for built-in storage that offers space for drawers or baskets. This will help to clear the clutter, while encouraging friends to kick-off their shoes and stay awhile.
Durability: Choosing flooring that holds up
Entryways have to stand up to a lot–muddy boots, paw prints, wet umbrellas–you know how it goes. Keep your entrance easy to clean and looking pristine. If you lean toward a more modern vibe, concrete floors might be the way to go; they’re durable and unique. If you want a more traditional look, check out luxury vinyl tile (LVT). It comes in an assortment of stone and wood looks, while being able to withstand the toughest of teenage storms.
Personality: Adding that creative touch
If you’ve got the space but are missing that pop of personality, we’ve got a few ideas for you. For a quick project, an area rug can help to add that touch (and save your floors). If you want something a little more permanent, try creating the look of an area rug with tile!
