How To Repurpose Your Candle Containers
With the popularity of candles for both fragrance and decor, there are no shortages of candle containers ready to be repurposed. Give your candles a second life by upcycling the containers into something new, functional, and stylish.
First, you’ll need to remove the old wax from your candle holder. There are a few different ways to do this, but we find the simplest option to be pouring boiling water into the candle. Leave a bit of room at the top for the wax to float to the surface as it melts. Once that’s happened, carefully pour out the wax and wick into the trash. PSA: Do not pour wax into your drain as it can clog your pipes! Once your candle holder is wax-free and clean, you’re ready to reuse it. We love using larger containers to hold plants (or faux stems) and smaller containers to hold toiletries (like cotton swabs) or makeup (like brushes or lipstick). Candle holders also look great clustered together as a centerpiece on your dining table or buffet – try filling different sizes and shapes with small stones, shells, or flowers.
- Remove the old wax with boiling water
- Create a planter to hold a live plant or faux stems
- Fill smaller containers with functional items like paperclips, hair ties, or cotton swabs
- Be creative! Fill glass jars with makeup brushes, marbles, or dried flowers to create a centerpiece
